WelcomeOur products are used by Hot Air Balloon Pilots and Meteorologists to determine the speed and direction of winds aloft based on the intermittent tracking of pilot balloon (pibal) movements. Pibals are helium balloons that are released into the air and tracked with either a compass and inclinometer or an instrument called a theodolite. The position information is input into a computer which quickly calculates a local wind survey. Although the basic techniques involved in pibal tracking have been around for well over a century, Custom Craft has been able to leverage current technology trends to provide the smallest, fastest and lowest cost wind tracking system available.
